Audio pronunciations
Hi everyone! With technical help from Katie Linero (https://ipa-reader.com/) there are now audio pronunciations for some of this site's names. They are actually computer-generated readings of the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) pronunciations. At this point it is limited to English, Polish and Swedish names in the main collection but will hopefully expand soon. This search should reveal some of them:https://www.behindthename.com/names/browse.php?operator_usage=isany&value_usage[]=english&value_usage[]=polish&value_usage[]=swedish&operator_sound=is&value_sound[]=%2A&langoperator_sound=is&ipa_sound=1You can listen by clicking on the IPA (between /slashes/) on the name's page. There will be a speaker icon in the top right of the popup if there is audio available -- click it to play. I intend to make this more accessible in the future. There is audio for other languages too, but before they go on the site I would like to have a first-language speaker listen to some samples. IF you speak one of the below languages and would like to help, please send me a message. Thanks!Arabic

This is such a great addition to the site! I've used that IPA reader before, it's my goto for name pronunciations where I only have phonetic spellings (because I'm not great with IPA). Looking forward to it!

Tibby reports that there are a few issues (some fixable, some not), but overall they are okay. German, French and Brazilian Portuguese are now available. Thank you for the help tibby!

Thank you to Uilos for listening to the Finnish (and Sigrid and cherrypiee for the Swedish and Polish respectively). The consensus seems to be that they are not perfect, but not too bad.

Thank you!I noticed that some of the Polish audios (like Ania and Artur) seem to place emphasis on the second syllable, and not the first (as is correct).

I'm not sure what's happening here, since the pronunciations I'm providing are stressed on the first syllable...
