I used to live there, it doesn't make sense as a name. I've only seen it as a name on the character Wyoming Knott. I can't see "ing" as a name suffix except maybe in Aisling, but that reads as "ling" and feels like a nickname in English (associated with 'babyish' words like duckling, gosling, hatchling, etc.) as opposed to just "ing".

Utterly appalling.

I think it sounds a lot like Naomi but with an -ng, but since I hate that pronunciation of Naomi I don’t like this either.

Apparently I’m the only one here who doesn’t mind it. I think Georgia, Florida, and Virginia are awful, but this is pretty to me.

Georgia, Florida and Virginia? Sure! Arizona, Alaska, Dakota or Louisiana? A little tacky, but maybe. Wyoming? Absolutely not. Wyoming is probably one of if not the worst of American state names. I heard a few weeks ago of a woman named Pensylvania, and she hated it and was embarassed by it, so she changed it to Penelope. I would urge anyone to please just use Georgia.

I learned so much about Wyoming after Googling it to look up the etymology. I knew almost nothing about it! Its state motto is "Equal Rights"?? Who knew! It sure looks like a beautiful place, nature-wise. I don't like Wyoming as a name for person. It's not a very catchy sound. Some State names are fun, but Wyoming doesn't do anything for me.

It's "the equality state" but only because it was forced to count women in order to have enough citizens to qualify for statehood :P

I think Wyomia would work better for a girl.

This is one sstate name that just doesn't seem to work for a first name. At best, it's a slightly hokey cowboy-esque nn for someone from that state.
