Akaki is in use among Russian speakers as well, a character in Gogol's Greatcoat is “Akakii Akakievich, office copyist.
To flagman1 from March 26, 2016: Not quite. In the Russian-speaking world, Akaki is a variant transcription of Акакий (Akakiy). Other variant transcriptions of that name include Akakii, Akakij and Akaky.
Akaki is also used in Russia and Ukraine. It's mainly associated with Akaky Akakievich, the hero of Nikolai Gogol's short story The Overcoat.
