Well, yeah. We've got no legal, financial or moral responsibility to be nice and supportive, no pressing need to keep on your good side, no friendships/good teacher-pupil relationship to spoil, etc. That's why feedback from strangers is not just useful but essential if you are to grow as a writer. I'm sure your friends and teacher do their best, but as you've shown us, you're not good with criticism and really only want praise, so that's what you're getting from the people who want to stay on your good side.

I really, really would encourage you to grow a thick skin about criticism (the publishing world is a tough one) and take it whenever you can get it. Your skills will grow through it.
