I must tell you that there is some controversy regarding the first line of the song. Some have it ‘dolls’ instead of ‘dawns.’ I should also confess that I had this song in mind while writing a scene for AB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTCdczj-7N8

Like beautiful dawns, all made up and bright
Radiant people in splintering light
All moving at the speed of life reflecting in each others’ eyes
But you’re moving so fast through this beautiful scene
You don’t see me, you don’t see me.

The sun had set long ago when she finally returned to Lanier’s cul-de-sac home. He’d left the garage door open. His car rested on the right side, allowing her to park on the left. Frankly if their situations were reversed, she would have done the opposite to force him to deal with consequences of avoiding confrontation.

Oh, truly we are a fortunate few who turn on your axis, revolve around you
All spinning outwards from your sun passing your reflection on
In your hurry to grasp everything that you see
You don’t see me, you don’t see me
You don’t see me, no you don’t see me

She sat in the car, unable or unwilling to deal with her consequences. She could easily blame her mistakes in London but that would mean bringing Parker into the mix. He’d ruined her and Stephon had just stood by and let it all take place.
The light went out, sending her into darkness. She had few choices now: leave and go nowhere and die eventually or stand up and take her punishment for being AB Holt. She hated punishment because it meant she was wrong. She sucked in a breath and climbed out of her car, pressing the door closed.

Such a beautiful view, I guess you’ve seen it all
But you, you see nothing at all
Such a beautiful view shining so bright
Shining so bright, so bright

The house door opened, spilling light from the mud room. In the casing stood a tall, male silhouette. He wore jeans and a t-shirt and smelled like hard work. For a moment she wondered in her perfect world, who that man would be. Here, at this moment, in the life she assumed was real, Vaughn’s presence could not be discounted or dismissed. That is who was stuck with her imperfect mess of a life. She walked towards the light with head slightly lowered, a bit afraid.

All moving at the speed of life reflecting in each others’ eyes
But you’re moving with such irresistible speed
You don’t see me, you don’t see me
You don’t see me, no you don’t see me
No you don’t see me

Vaughn took a step back, allowing her access to his home. She noted the concentration line from the inside of his left eyebrow along his forehead, like he was apologizing for the things he’d rot upon her. She swallowed, and managed, “I don’t know why I’m here.” The inflection toyed the sentence into a question. She managed to look up into his eyes and prayed for more darkness to hide. She stiffened when he drew her into an embrace. It felt safe and wrong. She didn’t mind her vision blurring, but closed her eyes so tears wouldn’t escape. Pity hurt and that was her consequence.
