a gitl suffers through a major tragedy (such as moving far enough away to seriously offset her life, or having a parent die and having to move to her grandparents' place), and she needs to get away so she explores her new neighborhood and meets a girl (perhaps literally runs into her) that is playing make-believe with her little brother/sister or by herself because she is an aspiring writer.
And perhaps this new girl has a different, more whimsical perspective on life, and she could throw the other, more upset, girl for a loop.
From there the relationship could develope with the second girl bringing some light into the life of the first, and a consistent string of adventures into make-believe stories.
Ah, seems I went a little overboard brainstoming. :D Regardless, I hope that the idea lends some assistance.
