Outside the building, Charlotte suddenly stopped, tugging at Dylan's hand. "Daddy, why do I have to go to this thing?" Dylan looked down at his daughter's pouty face, slightly frowning. "Look, we've discussed this. Mum is in Bristol until Monday, but I promised Liam I would show up at this party, and apparently there's no babysitter to be found in the whole of North London tonight." The little girl still looked sulky, so he squeezed her hand and smiled at her. "It won't take long, I promise. I just have to talk to some people. I've promised Mum to take you home by 9 o'clock, anyway." Charlotte sighed, rolling her eyes, but seemed to be conciliated for now. "Right, come on, then," he said, giving her his most enthusiastic smile, and together they entered the party.
