Spencer was so startled by the man with the strange accent that he nearly fell off his stool. He leaned away from him, eyes wide and turning an almost innocent blue in the dimmer light by the bar. Was this man hitting on him? Was it really that easy to tell that he was gay? He noticed the woman shaking her head and mouthing apologies. He quickly regained his composure.
"I, um, was invited here. Like you, I'm assuming." His voice was steady, and he had adopted his most diplomatic tone, the one that he was practicing for when he was finally able to run for office. He held out his hand cautiously to the man. "I'm Spencer Montgomery, by the way. And you?"
