"Mr Jenkins next door lost his keys," Ira explained, whilst Auden sighed theatrically in a manner that very clearly said 'not this again' and Fox, bored, plaited a small front-section of her hair. "I figured out that he left them in the corner shop and that Ellie - that's the shopkeeper's little girl - had picked them up to play with, which was the shopkeeper said he hadn't seen them when Mr Jenkins asked. Everyone said I was really clever for figuring it out. Mr Jenkins gave me a five pound note, and Dad said I'd make a good detective one day." Predictably, at the mention of their father, Auden glowered at him again.
