"She's so annoying, isn't she," grumbled Auden, "Jane, I mean. She just moons around after Rochester all the time, and then she runs away like a drama queen - that's the part I'm up to, now. Mr Rochester's mad wife is the most interesting person, and you don't even really get to see her that much." She gave an impatient sigh. "What d'you like to read, then? -" she asked him, and her sentence had the feeling of being somehow unfinished, because she had been about to add that her father loved to read anything that was about the Victorian era, and had stopped herself hastily.
