It depends on when it happens. If it happens before the case, they might manage to start semi-steadily dating for a while, but eventually Vincente will find her a bit too "dull" and inflexible, while Nina will think he is too unpredictable or capricious for her. They'll eventually part ways, if amiably. If it happens after the case, most likely they wouldn't carry it anywhere, as by the end of the short story collection, Nina would've been Mrs Severn. But when-ever it were to happen, two things: (a) I'm not sure Vincente is the most romantic person around, as typical of my protagonists, and (b) poor Topher will be pining for Nina in the most hopelessly tragic sort of way.
