He hesitates for a while, then decided to try it out anyway. Although he'd take precautions, he'd secretly wager it was Vincente (they first met - before the case, before either knew the other's name - when James was busking, and Vincente gave him fifty quid with the comment "Improvisation tells a lot about someone"). He'd assume that this £50 note is supposed to be a callback to that, not to mention having already had a taste of Vincente's idiosyncrasies, he would not have much trouble excusing this as another of his quirks.
