Etoile hit it on the head that the kid isn't believable so I'm just going to leave that there.
However, there is a book... I can't remember the title/author so I will think about it if you want... where a young kid and his mother communicate by morse code basically in the same way you described. I don't know whether that'd be an issue or not for you but I just thought I'd point it out.
