I'm trying to decide that at the moment. My original thinking was that, in-world, 14 would be the age when girls are available for marriage (the noble classes operate an arranged marriage system) but if I up-age her to 16 then that age will go up as well, as an arranged marriage about to take place is the precipitating event that kicks off the story.

Since it doesn't much matter whether she's 14 or 16, I think our guts are probably right!
