ITA with this one:

The idea that the ugly girl is always the nicest or smartest girl. The idea that the beautiful girl is always shallow or mean.

I've read too much bad fan-fiction that relies on this tired stereotype, and it's hilarious. It usually reads like, "Magnolia Beatrix Idony was a plain girl with brown hair and brown eyes, but she was very nice and very smart! Chanel Lauren Vuitton was a blonde cheerleader and super popular, but she was very mean and treated Magnolia like dirt!" UGH. It's like a bad 80's sitcom, or something.

I don't agree with this one, though:

The discontented woman. Any time period, anything to be discontented over. Nuff said. Kwitcherbitchin.

A good story needs conflict, and a discontented character, male OR female, is essential. If all characters were perfectly content with their lives, no one would read the story.

"An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way."
-Charles Bukowski

"And by the way, dearie, your punctuation sucks canal water!"
-The ghost of Vivian Vance
