Martin sighed. "What, though? There isn't exactly much I can do with a law degree other than being a lawyer, and I'm sure as hell not going back to school to do something else. If you'll excuse my language." He paused, eyes darting around the room quickly, before continuing. "Besides, I may not like it that much, but I'm good at it and it pays well, so I can't really complain about that. And I mentioned my boyfriend, right? Asher, he's getting his PhD now, he wants to be an English professor, and I don't know how long we'll be together, but I hope it's a long time and we'll need the money in the future. And--" He stopped short, unsure of whether or not to continue. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and thought, Just say it, why the hell not? "And I'm also kind of a little, um, worried about disappointing my parents. And myself, I guess. I'm just worried I'll feel like I failed or something. I don't know."
