What I mean about the "
Lolita" homage is that your first line:
Alexandria. Alec. Alexandria Destiny Melody Johnson.
That's who I always think about. She is the person that I will love forever. And I'll be the person she'll love for all eternity. ...reminded me of the opening line from
Vladimir Nabokov's "
Lolita", which is the story of a middle-aged man lusting after his 12 year old stepdaughter:
Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta; the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. They're not exactly the same, of course, but that's immediately what I thought of when I read your first line, especially since the story is about a forbidden relationship.
I have another question: What do
Kevin and
Melody think of
Josh being in love with his half-great-niece, or whatever
Alec is?
Kevin is
Josh's brother, right? Does he approve of the relationship as long as
Josh can be reincarnated, or is he disturbed by it?
