Liadan hovered in a corner, looking rather apprehensively at the other partygoers. She knew that she looked dreadfully out of place here, and her only fortune was that no one seemed to notice her.
She and
Kendall had traveled to the modern day in her home universe just for a jaunt, and so far
Liadan was not impressed. There was none of the respect for the history that she so loved, and it was crowded and noisy and made her long for her quiet library. And people certainly didn't have parties like this in 1880.
She couldn't see
Kendall anywhere, but she did see someone else coming over to talk to her. Glorious.
We're all in the gutter, but some of us look at the stars.
