The writing itself is good. (Though Skylar saying "of dying" blankly doesn't make much sense; if anybody's going to say something blankly it ought to be Payton.)
But honestly, there isn't anything here that makes me want to read more of it. There isn't any action, just Skylar pining for Daddy who obviously doesn't care about her, Mom-must-not-know, I'm-tired-of-being-so-strong. It just doesn't hold my interest, but that isn't due to the writing style.
