I don't think it's any more out there than using Oisin in the US, which some friends of mine did. Their Oisin is now in his 30's, and, after introducing himself has perfected the line "It's sort of like poison without the p."I know of three young women with variations on the name Ocean--Oceanna, Oceana, and Oceania.I love nature names and applaud you for thinking outside the box. I even know a couple who successfully pulled off naming their son Yellow--I say successfully because he grew up and did really well for himself, even works for the state now. In general, I think names can have however much dignity the parents can muster. (Barring really bad taste Kreeativ spellings or puns). That said, I also think you and your husband really need to be on the same page. But I agree with those who are saying don't worry about your relatives so much, it's your baby to name. I let my MIL pressure me into not using a name I loved, and I've always regretted it.
