What's your favorite full name for Evie?
I ADORE the nickname Evie for a girl, but I can never quite commit to a full name. Evangeline is very pretty, but it reminds me of "evangelist." My parents are very religious, but I am not, so I don't want that connotation for her name. Genevieve is nice, but I actually think its a little cliche as a pretty name. I've seen quite a few. But maybe someone can talk me into it? One of my favorites is Evelyn and I love that it looks very classic and sophisticated and with Evie it gives that cute old-fashioned vibe, but I don't know, I always forget about Evelyn. It just sounds a bit bland to me or too unisex-sounding. Eve is beautiful, but I've never been able to get behind one-syllable full names.
Any names you like that would make good full names for Evie? This name lends itself well to French hyphenized names too, and I love those. Or talk me into one of the ones above.

Eva/Eve or Evelyn!
This is really hard - I love them all! I think I'm a bit biased though, as my sister's name is Genevieve nn Evie. I don't think it's 'cliched' at all - I've only ever met one other Genevieve (who also went by Evie).
I love Evangeline too, but not the religious connotation.
Probably, if I didn't have Genevieve as a sister, I'd go for Evelyn. I like the more unisex sound to it and it looks so nice written down. If you wanted a more femenine version, you could go for Evelina or Aveline.

Eve and Evanthe are my favorite full names for Evie.
I like Evadne, Evelina, Eveline, and Sunniva as well.

Oh Sunniva!
I forgot about that one, good call

Evangeline.
Aviva?
I feel that same was as you about Evangeline and Genevieve! Besides my all-time favorite (Eve) I also like Evie as a NN for Eva, Evening, Aviva, Evanthe, Evadne, Evonne, Evette, Evetta, Evita, Geneva and probably more that I'm forgetting. I think it could work as a NN for Maeve also, even if it is a stretch ("eve" is there in the name right?) - but then I suppose that would go against the whole "one syllable full name" thing

I really like the name Aviva. My sister actually has a close friend she grew up with by this name, so it's very familiar to me. But I'll have to think about Evie as a nickname for that one because it doesn't feel very intuitive. And if I used it, my sister might just associate it with her friend and think, way to be original! I wonder if other people feel uncommon names are ruined because you don't want people to think you "stole" it from someone you know...
Cool suggestions. I'm feeling Evette too. I have a thing for French-influenced names. I really have to learn better French...hmm what about Evelette? Like a cross between Evelyn and Evette?

Yvette is nice and I love Aviva (though Evie wouldn't have crossed my mind as a nn), but not feelin' Evelette.
If you called the chilled Aviva and your sister asked, you could simply say you happened to like the name... and that because of her friend, it didn't feel too "out there" to be usable. I happen to really like the name.

Evolet
Evolet (pronounced like you want) was a character in "10000 B.C." and I think it's fairly familiar. Evelette looks like it would be said "EEV-let" to me, which is putting a really funny picture in my head - lots of little tiny Eves in a barnyard..... with the chicklets and piglets :D

I like names with some sort of etymological root though, so I wouldn't use a completely made up movie name that wasn't based off of pre-existing names. I don't like that "o" in the center. Yeah the problem seems to be pronunciation with Evelette, but I don't see a better, authentic-looking way to spell it. Oh well I guess...
Aviva is awesome!
Evelyn.
Mine too. :)
Please vote in my poll on a formal name for Evie! (ETA links)
You won't believe this, but I just put a poll up on this very topic. I swear I hadn't come to this board before doing it. I'm freaking a bit.
Anyway, the ten options I gave are:
Geneva
Yvonne / Evonne
Niamh
Evangeline
Evelyn / Eveline / Evelina
Caoimhe / Keeva
Eve / Eva
Genevieve
Severine / Severina
Evadne
And I could also have put in Neva, as in the Russian river, and Eibhlin (depending on what part of Ireland you're from).

And I'm loving others' suggestions of Yvette, Everild, Evening, Yvaine / Evaine.

I think my favorite is Evelina.
lol @Evilyn, more people should be called this
My friends have a baby called Evelyn and they pronounce it Eve-lyn so the Eeeeeev sound is definitely there!
On the other hand, one of my relatives was called Evelyn, but always shortened in the family to Ev, so I presume her name was pronounced as Ev-lyn. (I never met her myself, but heard about her a lot).

See those make sense. "Ev" is sooo cuuuute
I was just thinking of Yvaine with the nickname of Yvie or Evie a few days ago. That might work for you.
