What would you name your Harry Potter owl?
I recently joined Pottermore. Pretty disappointing! There's not even a spot for you to name your pet in. It's okay, though, since I wasn't really prepared to do it.The owls in the books have these names:
Pigwidgeon "Pig"
Errol
Hermes
HedwigI'm looking for something similarly fancy, perhaps with some fun outside reference. I have 0 ideas, tabula rasa over here. What would you pick? (Either gender.) (My owl is a barn owl. Luv him/her (haven't decided which)!)

I want a male barn owl named Taliesin. I also considered the names Perseus, Antares and Arcturus. Or some other name that sounds magical or some other constellation / star names would also work.Or I'd want a female barn owl named Noctua. Noctua is an old constellation, it was a small owl. Other good names are Selene, Luna, Artemis or Diana.I have to mention that I love barn owls. They are so pretty. My grandpa told me that people sometimes think they have seen a ghost but it will really have been a barn owl. In the wild I've only ever seen barns owls and once I did see a snowy owl.The snowy owl was on top of my elementary school and some people came to collect it so they could find a safer place for it than the city. I only barely got to see it from afar.If I didn't have a barn owl I'd choose a barred owl. I like all owls but some of them look really fierce like the eagle owl. Those owls just wouldn't suit my personality. I love how the barn owl has an air of mystery and mysticism. Their faces are masks that hide their intentions from our sight.

Off the top of my head, I'd probably name a girl Minerva and a boy Othello or Archimedes.

or Wallengrenia... I just stumbled upon this butterfly name and am totally in love
On a side not it feels like I finally found a suitable sister for Michelangela :)

I'm thinking Seraphina, though I'm not sure why.

We have wild owls in our yard! I'd name mine Mercury and Berengaria 'Beren' :-)

I joined Pottermore too. I didn't even think of naming the owl. :/I would call it Boris if it were a male, and Olwen if it were a female.

Balapan or HildegardI don't actually know what Balapan means but a family on "Human Planet" had a hawk named this and I always thought it sounded like an awesome name. Hildegard is just bad ass and sounds like a good "wise old owl" name to me. Griselda was my other though.Or maybe...Montague
Hannibal
Irwin
Melchior
Kentigern
Tasgall
Gulliver
Corentin
Channary
Bellatrix
Nike
Calpurnia
Fidelia
Blodeuwedd
Endzela
Viatrix

Ha, I did too, took me ages to get signed up and then I promptly wandered away and forgot about it. Can't think of any witty owlnames either! - I'd probably call it Ozymandias or Marmaduke or Wilberforce or Dishface or something of that ilk. Or Sharon.Gah, now you made me look at barn owls. Awwww barn owls.

I have a distant cousin with the middlename of Wilberforce. He aparently was a police chief in Oshkosh.I'd chose a snowy owl (darn quebequoise blood), and choosing a name is tough.
Andraste, Angelonia, Arduinna, Eluned, Levana, Melpomene, Rowena
Reverien, Feirefiz, Gryfflet
