It still isn't a name that I would use myself, but Agnes has grown on me, and I find Aggie to be a cute nickname. Agnes seems fresh these days. I've never met a child named Agnes.

Ness works as a nickname, but I think of Vanessa and Agnessa before I think of Agnes since I usually hear the -nes part of Agnes, which isn't emphasized, pronounced [nəs].
