Liana is gorgeous. I see what you mean about it getting lost in the sea of other similar popular names, especially since -iana names are very popular for little girls these days. I would be more inclined to use Linnea, which I think is beautiful and have on my list. While the Lin- part is reflective of current trends in terms of sound, most of the popular names end in -lynn, -lyn, etc. rather than begin with Lin- or Lyn-.
