I could see it, but I prefer the Llyr spelling (it just seems more substantial). Lir is good too, though.
I think it's pretty much a given people are going to think it's weird/wild, but if you really like it I don't think that should be a deterrent. My main concern would be that it's pronounced like the word 'leer', which is a negative association.
