My late husband's name was William James. He went by his middle name. Most people called him Jim and a few, including myself, called him Jamie. I like James but don't like Jim, and while to me he was Jamie, I do see Jamie as too effeminate for a grown man.

Would I ever re-use it? I did. My son is William James also, nn Will.

I had a relationship with a man whose real name is Kenneth but everyone calls him Buster. Buster is ridiculous, but I like Kenneth. IF we were to get married, and IF we were to have a son (both impossibilities) and IF he wanted to name him Kenneth, I'd have no objections. But he'd be called Kenneth.
