||Maybelle and Rosemary by Ismene
As a city girl, the name Maybelle just seems so out of place. Like it sounds like a character from a story who leaves the countryside and is just overwhelmed by a big city. I wouldn't say it's totally unusable and it sounds nice, I just cannot hear anyone say this name in my head without a southern accent. You kind of know what people are going to think when they see it.
I really like Rosemary, I love Rose names and my favorite name is Mary so Rosemary is kind of a neat combination of both (and also an herb, how awesome is that). That said because I like actually have the connotation of Mary, I wouldn't ever use it because I think it gets lost in the herb reference.
I'm not sure about the nickname part, but I wouldn't worry about it to much? Whenever people are saying my full name, usually they are saying my full first name, not my nickname (I'd say about 70% of the time).
