I agree. I picked Abigail for my daughter which both my husband and I love. So even though it is really common, I didn't have a problem using it as our last name is very uncommon. However if our last name was Smith or Miller or something I would definitely have picked something more uncommon.
For a second daughter Maggie is at the top of my list but I go back and forth whether Margaret or Marguerite should be her given name. If I had a common last name, no question I would use Marguerite.
