Hmm. I don't know. My grandmother said she named my mom Florence after her grandmother, Bluma, because Bluma means flower, and Florence... sounds like flower? :P My grandmother probably didn't do her research.

So maybe another family name?

Florence Ester (her dad's mom)
Florence Chaya (her mom's mom)
Florence Simona (her mom's dad)

(need more info on this side of the family though aggh)

maybe not though? Since none of her siblings seem to have family names? [as far as I know, at least. Maybe Michael's middle name was Mordechai.]

The other names in the sibset were relatively popular in their birth years (obviously if you don't count the fact that Carolyne is spelled that way), but my mom's wasn't-- I wonder if that has anything to do with her being born in France. I found the top 10 in France in 1960... (she was born in 1963)

Florence Sylvie
Florence Marie
Florence Martine

shrug.
