Saxon?
What do you think of the name Saxon? Or do you like Saxton better? We adore it and we would pair it with his fathers and grandpas names Joel and Geoffrey.Saxon Joel Geoffrey :)

For some reason I think it would be a good name for a golden retriever.

I don't like either. Saxon comes from a Germanic name meaning "knife". It would be like naming them after silverware or different kinds of knife like Bowie, Ginsu, and Bayonet imo.
Joel and Geoffrey are nice.

I like it, though I wouldn't use it personally (except for a character). I don't like Saxton. The Joel Geoffrey combo is ok and it's great that it's honouring, even though the J and G sounds are a bit repetitive :)

It's too tied up with Anglo-Saxon for me, but I can kind of see the appeal. I prefer it to Saxton.

My daughter has come up with different names that she would like to give to a girl, (currently it's Vivien), and Saxon was one of them! I had forgotten all about it until I saw your post. It's the one girl's name she's come up with that I think is horrible. It's marginally better for a boy, but I still don't like it. I find it heavy and difficult to say.

I don't love it, but I can see it working. It fits in with the surnamey trend which people are liking at the moment. I think Saxon is better than Saxton.

I actually was going to post about this the other day! The State MP in my uni's electorate is a female Saxon. It's interesting (or at least merits interest on a woman) but I don't get the appeal at all.

I remember seeing a placard for her a while ago and getting really confused about whether it was her first or last name. Also, the thought of Voting Saxon. She is probably The Master.

To be honest I think it's silly. Like naming your kid English, Spanish, etc.

It's not really my style and I can't say if I prefer Saxon or Saxton. I do think Saxon Joel Geoffrey sounds nice though.

The board rules here state that you should always use the same posting name:
http://www.behindthename.com/bb/baby/help#rulesThe first time I saw Saxon I didn't like it at all. It made me think of invading armies, and seemed a bit trendy, like Jaxon. But then I looked it up and found that it does actually have quite a long history of use as a first name, albeit a rare one. Since then it's grown on me quite a bit, and I think it would be an interesting choice.Saxton's not so appealing - just seems like a last name, and the -ton ending is very trendy.

I should add that if once or twice a year someone wants to post anonymously that is fine as long as they are making it clear why they are doing so. But you can't be changing your posting name every other day. Please choose a name that you like and stick to it. If you refuse to follow the rules you will eventually be banned. So far you have been told the rules at least three times. As long as you follow the rules you will be welcome here. So welcome, have fun and please stick to one posting name. :)
