Right now Charlie is tryndee as a girls' full name. I predict it won't last very long, just like Billie, Bobbi and Frankie as girls' names didn't last.

I think Charlie is a nice nickname for a boy, but I don't like it for a full name. Charlie is much more informal and sometimes that can make a name seem childish or silly on a grown person. I know I don't like it as a girls' nn at all, it seems to be trying too hard to be all tomboyish and anti-girly girl.

My MIL is named Charlene, and she has never been called Charlie, even as a child. When she was very little and couldn't say her name yet she called herself something that sounded like Shelly, so for a short while she was called that by her family, but once she could say Charlene Shelly fell to the wayside.

There was a girl in school with me named Charlynda. She was sometimes called Chuck for fun, but not regularly.
