I can see myself giving my daughter my own middle name as hers, even if I hated it. I like the idea of giving children family names as middle names. In fact, I don't think that I would ever NOT do that, and for me that would definitely matter more than whether or not I liked the name. It would even trump the fact that I hated the name. My husband hated our daughter's middle name but went along with it without a fuss because he understood that it was honoring.

Loyce is so interesting. Do you know whether or not it was a family surname? My grandfather's name was Byram, and for a long time I thought that was a normal first name and was surprised, back when I was a teenager, that I could never find it in name books. Later I found out that it was his great-grandmother's maiden surname and that was how both he and his father ended up with it as a first name.
