Loyce is interesting. What's it's origin?

I honestly don't understand why you'd pass a name you hate onto your child. My mother finds her birth name (Sahar) so inconvenient, awkward and blah that she decided to change her name, and the battle I have with her when I mention how much I like it! I guess it takes all sorts. My mother's angsty-irritated-wtf dance at the idea of a potential future granddaughter called Sahar is just as bad as passing a name you don't like on, and at least you get some history with the latter.

I actually really like Valerie! I know tons of Valerias, and Valeria Maleria is a common nickname, and whilst it's slightly more feminine, it's also flouncy and has that terrible nickname. Valerie's more down-to-earth and avoids all that. Nice name.
