I think it's a unisex nickname for sure. As such, I can't honestly say it's all-boy as a given name, even though my first assumption when hearing about someone named "just Charlie" would be boy. As a given name, I'd classify it as unisex, but more on the boyish end of the unisex spectrum.

I actually hate Charlie as a given name, boy or girl. It's adorable for a Charles or Charlotte, but it sounds so incomplete on its own.
