I get so confused over this because I always assumed it was Evelyn
prn. EE-vee. I know two people with 3-4 year old Evelyns, both nn Evie
, but they both pronounce it EV-ee. Makes sense, but weirds me out every time!
Anyway, I also think Evelyn
is popular because it has the 3 things people want in a newly trendy name: Cutesy nickname option, ends in a popular sound, and has a nice little vintage charm going on. I think that's the same reason why Isabella
is so popular. And why I wonder why Edith
isn't more popular. People must not like -ith.
