None of the Charlottes I know go by Charlie... Char perhaps, but haven't heard them called Charlie.

To me, it's a nn making the cross-over... and being used as a full name and not just a nn... which is the most disappointing part of it... It feels like it needs a full name to fall back on... Kinda like I don't like Katie as a full name, but some people do that anyway.
