Many white Americans feel culture-less and are trying to connect to their ethnic heritage. So they do things like visit the homeland of their ancestors to try and feel a connection.

Yeah, it's, like, phony and sad. It distracts from the issue of their not having a culture by trying to pretend that forgotten blood relations constitute an actual cultural connection.
