I don't like Charlotte either. I don't hate it, but it definitely looks better than it sounds. It sounds like Sharlet :P I don't care for Alma but don't hate it.

Names that I love, that most people here seem to hate:

Primrose - most people seem to think of an old lady or that people name their daughters that when they want them to be cute, fragile, feminine and not achieve anything in life. I imagine someone who is young and sweet. Also feminine, yes but also very ambitious.
Aubrey - way too common and most people here seem to prefer it on a boy. I really like the sound on a girl and don't find it very masculine at all.
Valentine - pronounced with an -ine ending for a girl.
Lily Rose - seems to be too much for most people here
Meadow - I know some people here also like but many think it's silly
Beverly and Beverley - love them
Lucille - so pretty
Hayley - it's golden and smells good (yeah I actually do think of the smell of fresh hay when I hear it)
Ashley - pretty and makes me think of trees

Shore - for a guy doesn't get much love here
Aidan - it's nice spelled like this
Harvey - love it

Names I hate that most people seem to like:

Mia - so insubstantial and I hate the sound. Sounds like a shrieking cat.
Leah - the meaning, the Bible story, the sound. It sounds like Lia so even though it has a long history it doesn't sound like it.
Ruby - crazy cat lady's name
Emma - I don't dislike it as much as I used to, though
Alice - just don't get the appeal
Sophia, Sofia and Sophie - hate the FEE sound combined with the sharp S.
Norah - I don't mind Nora, but why would you attach the ugly H?
Juno - ugh the movie. arghhh.
Freya - it just sounds funny
Bronwen and Bronwyn - so unattractive

Atticus - hate the sound
Jacob - can't stand the -cob ending. Jake is ok.
Ethan - sounds like a toxic chemical substance
Noah - I don't hate it, it's fine. It just sounds so feminine to me. I love it on a girl.
Oscar - ugh
Sebastian - pretentious
John - this is just the most boring name of all time. I don't get why people still use it. It was #1 for years and has never left the top 100. It has never had a break. I also don't think it's stylish or hip or anything to use it now, it's completely overused still! It's just boring.
