It's interesting to me that after a year of following BtN almost daily, I know longer seem to know what I love or hate. Seeing all the names, and reading all the various defenses of them, has really moderated my opinions. In fact this whole question has shifted to "Names I like or dislike."
My throwback rubric, though, when analyzing names is: Could I stand to have it? I've always loved my name, which is the same as my user name, and, initially it came as a big surprise that there was so much hate out there for Gail. Generally, though, I've always and still do hate creative spellings. I think it just screams uneducated. Though even here, I've come to have some appreciation for the defense of "when googling, I don't want her/him to be one of many thousands....
