What's up with
Mason? Seriously, I think it could be the #1 name in the US this year. I like it better than
Jacob but
Mason is totally 80s/early 90s to me. I know several Masons all born in the late 80s. If I had to guess its popularity, I would have said it peaked in 1989 or so, was still a little common in the 90s and then left the top 100 :P
Mason is a replacement for 70s trendy
Jason to me, I would have imagined its popularity to be similar to that of
Jenna which became popular when people were looking for a less popular variant of
Jennifer.
I really dislike
Sebastian. I like
Beau.
Ali sounds feminine to me, I guess it's used by immigrants? I don't get why
John is rising. So boring, needs a long, long break. What I don't get his how people think they're hip, cool and trendsetters by naming their kid
John which seems to be the case (at least that's what a friend of my parents who named her baby
John recently said). It was #1 for decades. It is still in the top 50 now. It's not fresh or anything just boring. Maybe it's different in Australia.
I love
Violet, so sick of
Sofia. Is
Sophia also common in Australia or is
Sofia more popular?
Comments on some of the others:
Flynn - don't get its appeal. I think of a guy who wears high heels and lipstick and a judge on
America's Next Topmodel, or something.
Dominic - always disliked this
Ryder - porn star
Austin - kind of like it
Eloise - don't get the appeal
Chloe is number 1? When I lived in Australia I met so many girls named
Chloe, many as old as 15. I thought people would be sick of it by now. I guess not.
