It's possible, he's not super close with his brother, although they get along fine. He says the problem is mostly just that it's weird to have two with the same name around (which I do agree with... we have an Elijah "Eli" and an Elias "Eli" in my family too), mostly so for their mother, and I guess Bill did go by Will/William when he was a kid.
That happened in my family. I have a great-uncle named Ross and that's also my brother's name. My mom liked her uncle just fine, but my brother wasn't named after him.
