I didn't get the Baby Marie reference either. I had to look it up. When I typed "Baby Marie" into Google, the top results had to do with a child actress known as Baby Marie who was in silent films years ago. She later became a movie studio costume supervisor. If she is who Paul was referring to, it doesn't seem like a bad association at all. She was an adorable girl who grew up to be very pretty and stylish.
