I think Rainbow is typically hippie. I know three girls named this, all born in the 70s and 80s (post hippie times, but their parents were hippies). Two are Rainbow and one is Rainbeau (yes, seriously). Their parents are all educated and have good jobs but they were hippies in their youth, one of them was my pediatrician.

I actually think it's a lovely name with a great image. I wouldn't use it, but I like the sound of it and I also love Rain. I also love Meadow, it's my favorite name. I guess I like the -o sound at the end, and of course the image. Meadow and Rainbow are pretty cool as a sibset even though for me personally they'd be a bit much.

I dislike Wheaton and don't really consider it hippie-ish. It makes me think of Wil Wheaton. I don't mind Marshall. I had a Melody phase which is over now, I just think it's ok.

These make me think of nice nature images and I don't consider them trashy or stripper-ish at all (but I never understand how people could possibly think stripper when they hear a nature name. Is there anything more innocent than the image of a river or a meadow? Never got that). Anyway:

Meadow
Rain
Summer
Winter
Autumn
Reef
Shore
Bay
Willow
Shadow - I wouldn't use it but love the sound of the word
Lake
Robin
Raven
Aspen
Ash
Rowan
River

These are all favorites of mine!
