I really like the idea of combining a common first name with a sort of out-there middle name.

Mix-and-match:

Girls -

FN: Mary, Marie, Maria, Anna / Anne, Elizabeth, Helen, Alice, Jane, Rose, Julia / Julie, Sarah / Sara

MN: Perpetua, Hypatia, Fortunata, Pandora, Albertina, Victorine, Voltairine, Iphigenia, Leandra, Lysandra, Ignatia, Ulyssa, Guinevere, Magnolia, Marigold, Fausta, Amaryllis, Apollonia, Sibylla, Crescentia, Despina, Olympia, Evanthia, Cordula, Nigella, Tacita, Juno, Junia, Io

Although the other way around could also work, definitely: Fausta Jane, Ignatia Helen, Hypatia Elizabeth, etc.

Boys -

FN: John, William, Thomas, Samuel, James, Robert, Alexander, Christopher, George, Charles, Benjamin, David, Daniel, Peter, Michael, Richard, Joseph, Paul, Mark, Edward, Stephen, Andrew, Henry

MN: Tycho, Magnus, Ignatius, Lysander, Leander, Evander, Ptolemy, Casimir, Somerled, Llewellyn, Dimitri, Atlas, Ianto, Idris, Cyprian, Oisin, Columba, Ulysses, Constantine, Orion, Tiberius, Oberon, Tarquin, Emeric, Algernon, Horatio, Zimri, Laszlo, Torleif, Hadrian, Hannibal, Zebulon, Cosmo, Peregrine, Emrys, Lothair

Some of my own combos (first names may vary as far as how "common" they'd be considered):

Winifred Albertina
Iris Perpetua
Margot Hypatia
Junia Margot / Margot Junia
Thora Olympia
Arthur Columba
Cormac Ulysses
Desmond Emrys
Ferdinand Atlas
Robin Emeric

Currently Loving:

G: Athena Lark, Cyra Lenore, Daphne Cordelia, Junia Sibyl, Penelope Susanna, Theodora Ivy, Tullia Victorine
B: Arthur Columba, Blaise Prosper, Cormac Ulysses, Desmond Emrys, Ferdinand Atlas, Panos Dimitri, Robin Emeric
