Brigid!Brigid! I went to school with two girls named Brigid. Granted, I went to a school run by the Sisters of St Brigid, so...

Brighid. :)
Also Briege and Bríd and Bridie and Britt - and all forms of it are okay, really

I love this name! I've always been partial to the "Bridget" form.

Beginning with my favorite:(1) Brigid, nn Bridie(2) Bridget, nn Bridie(3) Brid ("breed")(4) Britt(5) Brigitte ("bri-ZHEET" or "bri-GHEE-tuh")But just about any form of the name pleases me. I used to think of it *only* as an Irish name. Then I discovered its Scandinavian roots. Then I read about some English Renaissance families with Bridgets in the mix. English Bridgets? :-) So now for me it has more associations / interest. I love it.

Brigita or Briege

The only form of the name I like is Bride nn Bridie.

I like Bride, Breeshey, Bridie, Pirjo, Ffraid, and Breda.
But I think I like the everyday Bridget the best.
Breda or Ffraid the second best.

FfraidFfraid is intriguing. I know I'm taking my life in my hands be asking this, but how is it pronounced in Welsh? (*peeking through fingers covering eyes*)

Like the word fried.I forgot about that one, it has always intrigued me! I'm not a huge fan of the way it looks, though, but I think it's cute. Yay Sian for liking it! :)

Oh, OK. "fried" There's one that doesn't travel well into English, alas.Interesting and still intriguing. But I'll have to stick with Brigid for now. Thanks!

BrigittaI love Brigitta.

Bridgette. I usually don't go for frilly endings but in the case I think it works really well. Maybe because Bridget isn't very frilly or girly to begin with so adding the -te works to its advantage. Also Bridget makes me think too much of Bridget Jones whereas Bridgette is a cute little girl. Don't get me wrong, I like Bridget Jones, but her name is so strongly attached to her.

BridgetAnd it's one of my absolute favorites. I'd use it in a heartbeat.

Birgitte

Brigitte, but I don't like the name very much in any form (not a br- fan, I think).
I went to school with a Bridget who happened to be pretty short through elementary school (she ended up around average height-- I think a little taller than myself) and she was always called "Bridget the Midget". Actually a lot of kids in my school were teased about their height (including me). That's kind of weird, isn't it?

Brigitte. Just please, no Breege.

Breda or Brigitta

I really like Briggite. Bridget is okay too.
vote up1
Brigid, but Gitta is an incredibly close second.

Probably BridgetI've really been loving it the last year or so, although when it seemed popular (in the 90s? I don't remember) I thought it seemed bratty and didn't much like it for a long time. And I think Bridey is about the cutest nickname ever. I also like Brighid itself a lot.

I prefer Brighid. I like the nn Bridie though. And Bedelia/Bidelia does something for me too, but I'm not sure why.Bridget was the name of my dog when we adopted her. It did NOT fit. Haha! The -dget is a strange, strange sound.

Bridget.I love it.

Bridget or Brigitta (so musical)

There are so many to choose from. I was actually thinking about Berit earlier today. I think I want to use it for a guinea pig. I quite like Birgitta and Bedelia though I would never use them. Breeshey is definitely the most interestig form. Do I have to choose one? I think I'll have to go with Bedelia.

A little clarification, if you would.Brigid pronounced like Bridge or pronounced like Brig?
vote up1
Any form of the original, which would naturally have varied pronunciations.
vote up1
Hum-de-hum.I'm also a little confused on what you mean by "Any form of the original".What exactly are you asking for?
vote up1
It's okay.
vote up1
It could be BRIED, as well.
