Mark seems more boring to me. I prefer Marcus to Mark by far. Mark is very popular among my parents' generation, so I see it as more dated than Paul, which has more of a classic feel to me. I have met various people in my parents' generation named Paul, and it's more popular among my parents' generation than younger generations, but it suits just about any age. I've known young Pauls and their name suited them. It's harder to imagine a little boy named Mark than it is to imagine a little boy named Paul, but it's easy for me to imagine a man named either Mark or Paul.

Mark is more harsh and rugged sounding, whereas Paul is still a strong sounding name, but it seems like it works with more personality types than Mark does.
