Paul and
Mark peaked here in the 70s; in 1974 they were #1 and #2 respectively. Their tailing-off has been very similar, with
Mark hanging onto a tiny bit more popularity than
Paul. (

Interestingly,
Mark was at #81 in 1904 here, dropped out of the
UK top 100 for the following four decades and then had an unexpected resurgence at #32 in 1954! - I would love to know why.
I like them about equally, but
Paul has a slightly more classic and intelligent feel to it, possibly because of more international use (particularly French - Cézanne & Gauguin?), possibly because of more consistent use in general. The US chart comparison is interesting:
