I've only known two Angies and both had darker hair and were hardworking mothers and slightly talkative but not boisterous like the Angie you mentioned. Angela brings to mind the a character from the TV show Bones who is dark colored and a bit of a party girl. I'm starting to get the idea that Angie and Angela doesn't quite bring with it the image I'm looking for.
That's neat that you're a Laura! I'm a dark haired Laurie so I'm not quite feeling Laura as the name for my character and it would be odd to use a name so similar to mine when writing this character. :)
Melody's to me used to be light colored but recently have been dark colored, so I guess that's out too.
