I know at least a dozen female Ashleys and a single male Ashley - all under 30. All of them are American; even the guy is. And I knew an Ashlee who was a real pain in the ass.
I don't like Ashleigh. While I can see Ashley on a boy, I can't see Ashleigh. If you want to use it for a boy, stick to the original spelling.
(I like Ashley for both genders - I slightly prefer it on girls since one of my close friends is a female Ashley.)
