Good question. I like (though don't love) Julian, but hate Jules and Julius. Now I'm trying to figure out why. I can't come up with anything other than image. Jules and Julius are old man names to me. They always make me think of Groucho Marx, I guess because Julius was his real name? I guess? But the two make me think of an old old (sic) man. Julian is a boy's name and a young man's name to me. And yes, any Julian will eventually grow old, unless he dies first, but I wouldn't want to start my son out in life with what I consider an old man name.
